The prime minister is set to announce that fans will no longer be permitted to attend the sporting pilot events allowing limited numbers of spectators at Goodwood, the Crucible and the Oval in coming days.
It comes after evidence that the infection rate has risen across the country.

The October start buys us time to hope things improve but if not there are gonna be paycuts across football. I know the EFL will probably have to help bail out a lot of league 1 and 2 sides, but it is worrying as the National League don’t have anywhere near the same kind of revenue from TV deals to plug the gaps. Wonder if some sides might have to revert back to part time to survive without crowds.
I would like to think many fans would pay to watch a stream of the matches while we weren’t allowed in. I know the league have a broadcast partner so hopefully they will be discussing with clubs how they can split this revenue. This country might need to stagger some kick off times or the internet might grind to a halt at 3pm on a Saturday!
